47 New Occupations Added to National Occupation List & Median Wage Rises to $35/hr
Immigration New Zealand has expanded the National Occupation List (NOL) with 47 new occupations at skill levels 1–3, including newly reclassified chef roles. The immigration median wage has also increased to NZD $35.00 per hour.

From 9 March 2026, Immigration New Zealand has expanded the National Occupation List (NOL) with 47 newly recognised occupations at skill levels 1, 2, and 3.
A notable highlight of this update is the reclassification of chef roles, which have been split into clearer occupations based on skill level and seniority.
Three occupations have moved from skill level 3 to skill level 4 under this update.
From the same date, the immigration median wage has increased to NZD $35.00 per hour, based on June 2025 data.
Partner and dependent income support thresholds are also increasing.
